Concert Review

Silverton Casino - Las Vegas

December 4th and 5th,  2009

Review by Larry Kress

I am finally a little rested after I have had a chance to get a good nite’s sleep and  time to reflect back on the past weekend.  I feel fantastic. I’m so happy I went to the Silverton Casino in Las Vegas this past weekend, as many of Tanya’s fans gathered there from all over the country and world, and they had a wonderful long weekend of Las Vegas’s finest shopping, rodeo’s, and the highlight of all, the two Tanya Tucker shows at the Silverton Casino complete with a meet and greet with Tanya. Weather was in the 60’s and Sunny.   Cindi Brannon, Roger and Donna, and their daughter Kristin,(Sara Evans lookalike), and Leon from Norway who couldn’t stay away, and Teresa and Jeff Fuesco ( Ohio), and Linda and Gary Abel(TX) were there, and we were most happy to meet some new acquaintances from Canada, Lyndsay and Sherry who were amazed by Tanya’s performance  I think I saw tears of joy from Lyndsay's eyes. Plus other really good fans.

To a person we all agreed that Tanya could put on a show matched by extremely few other entertainers. She knows how to handle a crowd so well cause she had some rowdy’s on Friday night,  but she handled em as only T knows how to. Miss T was dressed to kill for both shows and she really is sporting a pretty trim figure these days. (Wow!!) Gorgeous clothes and was looking fabulous.  (I guess that is what I was going to tell her at the Meet & Greet but after seeing her I lost my memory and nerve.) Ha ha!

She also put the crowd on an emotional roller coaster with her songs.  Sometimes she almost had us crying after her heartwrenching and emotional renditions of songs like Soon, and Two Sparrows in a Hurricane, and “Oh what it did to me”.  Then ratcheted up to “It’s a little too Late “and When I Die, and other sassy songs that make you want to dance even if you don’t know how.  Other songs included Trouble, San Antonio Stroll, and A memory like I’m going to be, Lizzie, Walking Shoes, and many more. Also she sang her rendition "In the Ghetto" of Elvis’s in  her unplugged set, Then another rendition of "Something" of the Beatles.  And if that weren’t enough, she also performed several songs from my personal favorite CD, “My Turn”.  Songs crammed with personal memories (of my parents) for me but she really does those songs justice by singing them with her personal stamp on each of them.  My favorite is the Merle Haggard tune (Ramblin Fever)  T. looked good in that hat.  They are all great songs.

Our hats are off to the band who played fantastic including Jack, Jay, Jeff Allen and the others. So glad to see that Jeff Allen has returned to play in the band again.  They were great on and off stage.  Special thanks to Jack for the Luxor experience. You’re the best!  We really appreciated your thinking of us.  Tanya was once again the best possible entertainer and I was thrilled when she greeted me with “Hi Love”which caught me off guard. Everything I was about to say was immediately forgotten in an instant. I am still on cloud nine. We all Love you too Tanya and we will see you around again “Soon” I hope. We gave Tanya’s floor set list to Cindi in honor of her husband, Bill who we all miss and thought about a lot.

Oh, by the way, I am Larry Kress for those of you who know me or will know me at future concerts. I misplaced my camera out in Vegas so I will have to rely on Cindi for any pics she posts.

Yes, Leon, I did see it and am looking with wide eyes at Tanya’s  future schedule in Laughlin, NV  in March, for 6, count em, 6 days.  Wow. I just might have to go.   See ya’ll there!  I will wear my new clothes just purchased in Vegas.  Got my new Wrangler Slim Cuts, and NFR Shirt and Justin Boots. I am ready to go.  All I need now is a big Nashville belt buckle.  But Leon’s boots are better than mine! Ostrich skin.  Wow! Oh well!!!!
