Jim Thorpe, PA - July 28, 2006

Tanya is FanTastic!

I just got back from the concert tonight in Jim Thorpe, PA at Penn's Peak.  It's a little after 1 am and  it's still on my mind, lol.  The show was fantastic!  It was my first time seeing Tanya live and she put on a great show.

The slogan for Penn's Peak is "The Best Place to see a Show" and that's 100% true.  I didn't get my tickets 'til today (the day of the show) and ended up getting front row at the right side of the stage.  I had a perfect view.  As soon as we got there, you could hear Tanya rehearsing inside.  I heard "Hangin' In" & "Lizzie & The Rainman".  When we were eating at the restaurant inside, we heard "Jamestown Ferry", "San Antonio Stroll", "Blood Red & Goin' Down" & "A Memory Like I'm Gonna Be".

There was an opening act, Pamela Jean & The Dreamcatchers.  They came on at 8pm and performed till a little after 8:30.  Pamela & the band sound pretty good and brought her 12 year old daughter out on stage to sing "Blue Moon of Kentucky".

After they left the stage, security helped set up the stage for Tanya & her band.  They came out at 9pm and performed 4 or 5 songs together and then Tanya started the show with "Some Kind of Trouble".  She was wearing a black jacket with a silver sequin design on the sides...her pants matched the jacket.  She took off the jacket before performing "I'll Come Back As Another Woman" to reveal a long sleeved white top with a silver sequined belt. She looked fantastic.  For a woman in her mid-40's, she looks great.

The audience responded well to every song and made her feel at home.  She dedicated "Love Me Like You Used To" to the audience and dedicated "Two Sparrows In a Hurricane" to all the couples in the house along with her parents back in Tennessee who aren't in good health. Towards the end of the show when she did "It's a Little Too Late", she said that she's not sure if they're going to be a "Tuckerville" Season 3 yet...she told them to "Show Me The Money!" and that it's tough waking up each morning with a camera in her face.

At the end of "Delta Dawn", Tanya shook hands and signed hats, shirts, photos for fans in the first few rows.  Layla came out and joined her onstage.

The highlight of the show for me was that Tanya winked and smiled at me a few times during the show.  I was the only one taking pics with a flash in my area and she kept coming over to my side of the stage and did a few poses.  I don't know if it was in my mind or what, but it's something I'm ALWAYS going to remember.  The announcement was cameras were allowed...just not with a flash.  I took the first 2 or 3 pics without the flash while everyone else was using a flash, so I turned it on and was using the flash and Security never said anything to me or anyone else.
