LA Costa began singing and entering beauty pageants at an early age. She sang with sister Tanya in her first  band called the "Country Westerners".  While earning a degree at Cochise College in AZ,  La Costa sang in clubs and was crowned Miss Country Music in Phoenix, AZ.  After graduating and  a short stint as a medical records tech, Dad Beau Tucker called La Costa to say he thought he could get her a record contract.  La Costa and husband Darryl Sorensen headed back to NV to start-up a record career.

For the next year La Costa went on the road with Tanya and sang in some of the shows along the way.  A chance meeting with record magnate Al Gallico and an impromptu audition lead to her first record deal.

La Costa signed with Capitol Records and was produced by Jerry Crutchfield. Her first album Get On My Love Train charted at a very impressive #6 on Billboard Radio & Records and produced two top 10 hits. La Costa sings all styles of country and had songs marketed in both country and pop audiences.

La Costa currently lives in the Nashville area and continues to serve as the president of the Tanya Tucker Fan Club.  She is a gifted fine chocolate and candy maker and has also begun a career as a realtor.

Fan Comments

I remember fondly The 4th of July concert in Lewiston, ME.  And it was my pleasure to have breakfast with La Costa, her husband, and her band, and afterward take them to the airport.  It lifts the spirits to be around people like them. -

La Costa, you once played at the omaha home show. It was a three day show. I was at the first show. you said that this song goes out to the man standing against the pole with the cowboy hat. Well I'm that man.The song was Western Man. I saw every show. then I went out and bought your albums. Now I am wondering how many albems have you made.  By the way, That was at least 35 years ago. But still a big fan.    Paul Bates  email proudmary@cox.net
