The first ever Country Weekly Fashion Show was an exclusive event held during CMA Week at the Hard Rock Cafe in downtown Nashville across from the Riverfront Park.
Benefits from the Fashion Show went to an organization called
Musicians on Call. Only 250
tickets were sold to the event, but I think everyone who attended would agree a
lot more people were jammed into a very small venue.
Once inside, there was nowhere to sit and barely
room to stand. Trays of hors deuvres and
champagne
were flowing freely throughout the evening. One or two Tanya Tucker fans
might have had a few too many glasses of champagne.
Natalie was extremely concerned about Alabama Dee spilling coke
in her Manuel shoes (she took them off -- too much
standing)
and Manuel purse. By the time the night was over, champagne was in fact
spilled into both!
Now that you know it was extremely crowded and hot, on to the fashion show. Artists either wore fashions from Wrangler or from a local boutique called Flavour.
I
can honestly say Clay Walker and Neil McCoy looked and
dressed like they always do: wranglers.
There was one other model that wore fashions from a totally
different designer: Hanes ...as in underwear ... or maybe it was Fruit of
the Loom - I didn't check the label. In case you
haven't guessed it, the Naked Cowboy was there..yeehaaaaa
Clay Walker and Charla from CMT hosted the event. Several artists and celebrities modeled two different outfits each. Tanya wore fashions from Flavour and I believe was the only artist that modeled an evening gown. She was most definitely a crowd favorite.
By now my two partners have abandoned me with picture taking responsibilities in search of all the champagne and berries they can find.
At
the conclusion of the fashion show, a few artists entertained the crowd with a
short acoustic set. Carolyn Dawn Johnson came out and sang "Complicated"
followed by Ty Herndon singing "Living in a Moment".
After Ty finished, Charla came back out on stage and asked, "Who is the biggest Tanya Tucker fan here?" It must have been obvious there was some Tanya fans in the house (ya think?) Actually, I think there were more Tanya fans than any other artists' fans at the Hard Rock that night.
Alabama Dee somehow managed to get on stage with a couple of
TUTTFS t-
shirts.
Charla kept asking Dee what her favorite Tuckerville moment was and Dee
proceeded to show her the now infamous tattoo. (Remember the
champagne...and the berries).
Tanya came out on stage and sang a fantastic acoustic version of "Love Me Like You Used To" with Marcia Ramirez singing background vocals:
Meanwhile, Alabama Dee and Natalie were singing all the words to this particular Tanya Tucker song in the audience stage left. Somehow or other the earth tilted on its axis and Dee fell down and broke off the bottom of Natalie's champagne glass. Luckily, it would appear as if Tanya missed their performance, but I don't believe Marcia did!
At the conclusion of the song Charla came out and told Tanya about her 'biggest fan' being present -- the one with the Tanya tattoo. Tanya laughed and said she knew the one (LOL). Charla also gave Tanya the TUTTFS t shirts. Tanya held up one of the t-shirts and commented on how hard the fans work on the UNofficial site. Miss T also told the crowd that she has plans for overhauling the official site.
It was crowded, it was hot, and it even got a little tense here and there -- but at the end of the night it was a lot of fun. Hope Tanya participates again next year. If she does, I am pretty sure she will have even more fans in the house!!
